I took my yorkie outside to get some spring pictures of him. I heard the wood pecker hammering away close by. I watched and waited and then I spotted him. I was able to get close enough without him flying away to get some decent shots. Here is one of them. If you have ever watched one of these birds, you know how fast they move. Enjoy.

I enhanced this picture quite a bit so it has some distortion. These 2 snappers are in our pond in the back yard. They each are bigger then each of our Yorkies. I also found about 6-10 babies swimming around as well. Spring is here!! I will get my skills back and start posting some exciting stuff.

My wife and I have visited Acadia National Park several times this summer. One thing I have noticed about the BEAUTIFUL state of Maine, is that the shoreline is not all owned by wealthy people and blocked from us common folks view. This park actually allows you to walk out onto the cliffs and view the ocean. This particular day my wife and I had done a lot of walking, I got bit by a spider who landed in the back of my shirt from a tree, and I was exhausted. I ventured out onto this cliff anyway to see what I could shoot. As I was trying to make my way back, this gull landed right in front of me. I laid down and took a few shots. This one was as he was running to fly away.

Well, it has been a long while since my last post. I have had some life changing events happen during the past few months. I hadn't picked up my camera since the October snowstorm in CT until I moved to Maine with my wife. We bought a nice property way out in the country and have LOTS of land to roam and take pictures as well as I must say, the MOST BEAUTIFUL state I have ever been too. We fell in love with Maine during our various trips. An opportunity arose and we latched on.

I will be posting more pictures now. I am getting back into the swing of life. Hope you enjoy and feel free to leave comments.

She spotted this scene. I had to get it as well. She deserves all the credit for the scene, this is my version of it. This scene is lit up by the lighting at General Dynamics to the left. We were lucky enough for him to stay still during our photographs.
Frank Pietlock Photographyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10696778874958167885noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7627081453221731510.post-25028456424681886852011-08-20T10:33:00.001-04:002011-08-23T14:51:28.600-04:00Shenipsit Lake

EOS 50D - F13 - ISO 400 - 18mm - 1/100

I focused my lens and saw this magnificent creature busy at work. He was so small that I missed him with my naked eye.
